About Me

I graduated from the London College of Music in 1996, specialising in Cello and Piano.
I have taught cello & piano privately for 30 years, as well as teaching cello in local schools for Portsmouth Music Service and piano at Portsmouth Music Academy.
I also worked for several years as a music researcher in the broadcasting industry.
I am passionate about all genres of music and teach an eclectic range of styles.
I love getting to know my students and choosing music with them to learn that will match their personal taste and inspire them.
I consider music theory an integral part of learning an instrument and I enjoy sharing the historical background of pieces.
I teach all ages and abilities and enter my students for ABRSM, Trinity, and Rockschool exams with 100% pass rate.
My teaching approach is patient, fun and supportive. I tailor my lessons to suit my students’ individuality.
Lessons take place in my lovely music room, at my home in Southsea.
I am enhanced DBS checked.
